We really don’t want to be those people that complain about the weather but if you are a Torontonian you know this winter is really kicking our ass (excuse my french). My motto is to always look at the bright side of things and whats the bright side of winter (besides nothing)? Winter fashion! Some people love summer dresses whereas I prefer oversized sweaters, boots, and turtlenecks. I’ve listed some key essentials to get you through your winter blues.
- Hand lotion- I have this increasing fear that my hands are going to start to wrinkle so, I try to moisturize as often as possible.
-Fragrance- The weather may not look so nice outside but at least you can smell nice. I got this Prada perfume for Christmas, another plus side of winter!
-This knitted turtleneck vest from Zara is one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe. I like to pair it with a matching lip colour. Although I don’t have the exact shade in my makeup collection I use two different shades to achieve the perfect match. For my lip liner I use Currant by Mac and apply Diva by Mac to the centre.
-Leather leggings- I tend to be frugal in my day-today life but sometimes a girls got to splurge. These leather leggings cost me a pretty penny from Wilfred but, its a piece I can mix and match and wear often. Not to mention they feel amazing!
Nothing makes us feel more fabulous than a bright bold lipstick in any shade. Watch our tutorial to see how we achieve the perfect pout for any occasion. Here are some key steps to keep in mind the next time you apply your lipstick.
#1 Pick the right shade. Lipstick is such a bold statement so be sure to pick a shade that reflects your outfit of the day and your mood!
#2 Start with a smooth surface! Lightly run your toothbrush over your lips to exfoliate any dry skin. This will help your lipstick glide on later.
#3 Before applying any lip colour be sure to brush your lips with any translucent powder to prevent your lip colour from bleeding on to your teeth and the outside of your mouth.
#4 Line your lips with a matching lip pencil or one shade darker to add dimension. The lip liner will be an outline before you go in with your lipstick.
#5 Go in with your lip colour and for extra dimension add a lighter shade to the centre of both your upper and lower lips.
#6 Clean up any mistakes that you may have made with your concealer and concealer brush.
Remember, lipstick is a makeup tool you could be as adventurous as you’d like with it. Don’t be married to one lip shade!
